National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" Fund announced a Contest of ideas "Innovative Kazakhstan."

On September 7, at a press conference in Astana, Timur Kulibayev, Chairman of the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" announced the launch of a national contest of ideas "Innovative Kazakhstan" among young people, dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the Independence of the RK.

The competition is held under the motto “Your Idea! Your chance! Your Future and it appeals to young people aged 15 to 30 years - school and students, young professionals and entrepreneurs.

One of the major objectives of the Fund “Samruk-Kazyna” is to promote innovation culture in companies. The solution to this problem depends primarily on the people aimed at improving the quality of life, the progressive development of society and put forward innovative ideas to achieve these goals. Great expectations in this regard are assigned to the younger generation in Kazakhstan.
The Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" believes that the innovative development of Kazakhstan is a complex task which must be solved at the level of the entire society. We have to properly educate a new generation, train personnel, to adopt and develop new technologies, encourage start-ups.

"I am sure that this competition will open up new names, give way to new original ideas and innovative solutions to urgent problems of economic and social life. And I believe if we support the innovative youth today we find strong Kazakhstan tomorrow", said Timur Kulibayev.

Within the contest the Fund aims to identify and support youth initiatives in two areas-categories:

Technological breakthrough”:
• Engineering and technical innovation;
• Information Technology;
• The production activity;
• Energy-saving technologies;
• Environment and natural resources;
• Management of innovation.

"The social ideas":
• Education, Culture, Health;
• State, local governments;
• Social and political life;
• Infrastructure, housing and communal services in the regions, cities and villages

 

Projects shall be effective from technical, economic and environmental points of view as well as contribute to solving urgent issues for the Kazakhstani society.
In selecting applications the Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" will give preference to such criteria as originality, feasibility, effectiveness, scale of impact and applicability of the ideas into practice.

Conditions will be published on the website www.i-kaz.kz, kazenergy.com, in the newspapers "Egemen Kazakstan" and "Kazakhstan's true." From 9 September 2011, the Contest presentations will be organized in more than one hundred universities and colleges in the country.

Receipt of applications will take place from September 7 to December 1, and the contest results will be announced in late 2011.

The jury included representatives from government agencies, the largest educational institutions, heads of leading national companies, scientists and independent experts.

As a result the selection process will select 10 finalists who will receive valuable prizes. Two winners (one in each category) will receive grants to study abroad; the amount of a grant is 5 mln. tenge. The Grants may be used for training under the program without assigning a degree in one of the leading international universities, learning a foreign language with immersion or for training in foreign companies.
