The Energy Charter Secretariat and KAZENERGY Association with the support of the Enegry Support Center “Kazakh Institute of Oil and Gas” and JSC “KEGOC” present an overview of the state policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency improvement.

Not only does the study acquaint the reader with the current state of affairs, but also identifies the main problems that hinder the improvement of energy efficiency. Additionally, the said analysis presents the experience of developed countries in the field of energy efficiency.

The review was conducted in order to develop recommendations on improvement of the mechanisms of state regulation, and strengthening international cooperation and sharing of Kazakhstani experiences with the countries participants of the Treaty.

Kazakhstan’s adoption of the Concept for transition to a “Green Economy” brought the country to a fundamentally new level of the society development. The government policy is aimed at reducing the environmental impact, resource saving, and achieving high standards of living. One of the key points on the way to a “Green Economy" is energy efficiency. In terms of GDP energy intensity, Kazakhstan is among the countries with the highest values. According to experts, our country has all opportunities for improving energy efficiency in industry, energy, utilities and transport.

The presentation of the review will be on 26 November 2014 at 10:00 in the D-hall room of “Rixos President Hotel”
